The nonprofit Seed Savers Exchange has stewarded America’s culturally diverse and endangered garden and food-crop legacy for present and future generations since its 1975 founding by Kent Whealy and Diane Ott Whealy. They educate and connect people through collecting, regenerating, and sharing heirloom seeds, plants, and stories. And they maintain one of the largest non-governmental seed banks in the country at their Heritage Farm headquarters in Decorah, Iowa.
