About Yellow Pear
‘Yellow Pear’ is a very old tomato variety that has been popular since the late 1800s. Its fruits were described as “tomatoes for pickling” in the ‘Sunnyside spring catalog of roses, greenhouse and bedding plants, seeds, etc.’ out of West Grow, Pennsylvania, USA in 1882′.
Indeterminate, regular leaf plants prolifically produce large clusters of small, bright-yellow, pear-shaped tomatoes measuring 1-1.5in./2.5-3.8cm in diameter and weighing 1-2.1oz./30-60g that are low in acid and have sweet, fruity flavors. Great for eating fresh off the vines, topping crisp summer salads, making jam, chutney, and passata, and whole fruit canning or fermenting. This is a very popular market tomato with good disease resistance. Midseason, about 75 days to maturity.
