About Vince’s Haze
‘Vince’s Haze’ is a gorgeous, deep purple beefsteak tomato, that was developed by the members of the Dwarf Tomato Project from a cross made by Vincent Lavallo between the ‘Dwarf Wild Fred’ and ‘Purple Haze’ and named ‘Hazy Family’. It was selected by Susan Oliverson who named this variety after the Hazy family’s originator, Vince Lavallo. Stabilization was the collaborative work of Susan Oliverson, Craig LeHoullier, Justin Sieglaff. The starting seed sample was grown out and supplied by Bill Minkey. First introduced commercially by Victory Seed Company in 2019.
Dwarf type, rugose, and potato leaf plants grow up to 1.4m tall and produce a very good yield of large, 7-12oz. (200-350g), oblate, purple-colored fruits with thin skin and juicy flesh. Excellent, rich, intense, well-balanced tomato flavor. Midseason, the first ripe fruit can be harvested about 76 days after transplant.
