About Valiant

‘Valiant’ was selected from ‘Stokesdale*,’ a well-known and farmers’ favorite money-making tomato variety in 1936 by breeder and vendor Francis C. Stokes Co. of Vincentown, New Jersey, USA. It matures 5 days earlier than ‘Stokesdale’ with smaller vines and larger fruit.
Indeterminate vines with regular leaf foliage are covered with a good yield of red, round, and slightly flattened fruits weighing 5-8oz./150-200g. The tomatoes have an excellent, well-balanced flavor that tastes wonderful in a Caprese salad or any fresh summertime dish. Fruits will begin to ripen for harvest during mid-season and are crack-resistant.

*In 1941, Francis C. Stokes wrote the following description in their seed catalog: “The tomato of the year together with four other distinguished varieties. This tasty tomato is an extra early, extra-large, and extra smooth fruit. And the best tomato as we ever had.”
