About Tsygan (Gypsy, Shugan, Цыган, Zigan)
‘Tsygan’ s a Russian commercial variety, created and introduced by NK LTD in 1998. It was included in the Russian State Register in 2000. Introduced to North America by Andrey Baranovski, Minsk Belarus in the early 2000s under its translated name, Gypsy.
Indeterminate, regular leaf plants produce large crops of 6-9 oz., oblate, juicy, purple/black fruits with some greenish shoulders. Very good, pronounced earthy, slightly acidic flavors. Delicious!
