About Tsekinovskiy Gigant (Цекиновский Гигант)
‘Tsekinovskiy Gigant’ is a very rare tomato variety that originated in Ukraine. In 2018 N. Nekhaev and J. Nekhaeva of Ukrainian seed company ‘Ekzotomat’, received the seeds as a gift from Valentina Oryol of Tsekinovka, the village located in the Yampol district, Vinnitsa region in Ukraine. Valentina decided to share her heirloom variety (bred by her mom) with them. According to the information provided by Valentina, this variety is more than 50 years old. Because the original name was forgotten, it was named after the village of its origin. Indeterminate, regular leaf plants grow up to about 6.5 feet (200 cm) tall. Beautiful, large (11-18oz./300-500g), red, ‘fat plum’ or blunt heart-shaped fruits. Very good, sweet tomato flavors with nice acidic notes. Meaty and dense flesh and very few seeds. Perfect for fresh, in salads and as a slicer, but also great for juices and thick sauces or canning. Midseason, about 80 days to maturity. Suitable for growing outdoors and in a greenhouse.
