About Tarasenko 2
An old Ukrainian variety, developed by the amateur tomato breeder Feodosii Makarovich Tarasenko, who specialized in breeding large-fruited and productive tomato varieties. Although the original Russian name translates as ‘Hybrid Tarasenko 2’, this is an open-pollinated variety. Fedor Tarasenko called his varieties ‘hybrid’ simply because he made crosses using two parents. These crosses were F1 hybrids, but he stabilized them before sharing seeds with other gardeners. Indeterminate, regular leaf plants produce a high yield of 3-4 oz., small, round, or slightly oval, gorgeous red fruits with a pointy tip. Very cute looking and they taste deliciously sweet. Excellent for eating fresh or pickling.
