About Tappy’s Finest
Heirloom beefsteak from West Virginia sometime before 1948. Named and introduced in 1983 by SESE in honor of ‘Tappy’, who selected the seed for its regular shape, small cores, and flavor. Indeterminate, regular leaf plant produces 1-2 pound, dark-pink, slightly flattened, very meaty fruit with ribbed shoulders and few seeds. Loaded with sweet, rich flavors reminiscent of old-time tomatoes. Makes great tomato juice, tomato salads and great for slicing thick slices into a sandwich.
