About Sweet Scarlet Dwarf

‘Sweet Scarlet Dwarf’ was developed by the members of the Dwarf Tomato Project from a cross between Golden Dwarf Champion and Elbe (Tipsy family). Initial selection was by Craig LeHoullier, in the F3 generation (2009). Stabilization was the collaborative work of a number of others: Patrina Nuske Small, Craig LeHoullier (who named Sweet Scarlet Dwarf), Jon Schmuck, Susan Oliverson, Michael Volk, Susan Barber, Patrina Nuske Small, Steve McClaren, Marla McClaren, Dee Sackett, Scott Stough, Ginny Bishton, Wendy Montanez, Amanda Fischer, Linda Black, Bobby Whicker, Kathy Wolfe, Paul Fish, Bill Minkey and Kay Robbins. Introduced commercially by Heritage Tomato Seed in 2015. Determinate, dwarf, rugose, potato leaf plants produce a heavy yield of 6-16oz./180-450g., oblate, smooth red tomatoes that offer exceptional, robust, complex flavors. Thought to be one of the best flavored of the new Dwarf varieties. Midseason, about 75 days from transplant.
