About Sputnik
Originated in the former Soviet Union. Named after the first artificial Earth satellite that was launched into space by the USSR in 1957. First offered in the Seed Savers 1996 Yearbook by Arche Noah, a genetic preservation organization in Austria, who got the seeds from Elmar Dolgener. Introduced commercially in North America by Tatiana’s TOMATObase Seeds in 2015.
Indeterminate, regular leaf plants produce 4-10 oz. medium-sized, chocolate-brown colored beefsteak tomatoes with very good bold, old-fashioned tomatoey flavors.
