About Sleeping Lady
‘Sleeping Lady’ originated from a cross between ‘Budai Torpe’ and ‘Black from Tula’, made in 2006 by Patrina Nuske Small in Australia and named ‘Grumpy’. The variety was selected and named after the Legend of the Sleeping Lady by Sherry Shiesl of Alaska. She was primarily responsible for variety creation, with minor participation by Craig LeHoullier, and the seeds were grown out for the initial release by Ted Maiden, Tennessee. Tatiana’s TOMATObase Seeds introduced the variety in 2012. Dwarf (tree-type) 3ft./91cm tall, indeterminate plants with regular, dark green, rugose foliage produce high yields of 4 oz./110g, round to oblate, chocolate/mahogany colored tomatoes with excellent well-balanced flavors. This variety is perfect for container growing and ripens for harvest during mid-season, 80-85 days after transplant.
