Shokoladnyi, AKA Russian Chocolate. Russian commercial variety. The name means ‘Chocolate’ in Russian, which refers to the fruit color. Introduced to North America by Andrey Baranovski of Minsk, Belarus in the late 2000s as Russian Chocolate. First introduced to SSE by Neil Lockhart of IL in 2007 as Russian Chocolate.
Indeterminate, regular leaf plant produces 6-12 oz., reddish brown fruit the great flavor associated with black tomatoes. Yields are very good.
