Rosa Ple

‘Rosa Ple’ is a very interesting heirloom tomato from Parets del Vallès, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The story behind this variety says that a gardener saw this beautiful tomato at his neighbor’s greenhouse. He snuck into it at night and stole one beautiful fruit. Since then (1960), he grew this variety in his small garden and shared the seeds with other gardeners.
‘Rosa Ple’ is a beautiful, flattened, and strongly ribbed, large pink fruit weighing about 9-18 oz. (250-500g). Aromatic, sweet, and tasty flesh is perfect for preserves, sauce, cooking, and stuffing, but also great for fresh. Indeterminate, regular leaf plants are very prolific. Midseason, about 80 days to maturity.
