About Rio Grande
‘Rio Grande’ is a red, plum-shaped tomato that originated in Italy. Seeds of this variety were donated to the USDA in 1994 from the University of California, USA.
Determinate, regular leaf plants are loaded with medium-sized (4oz./100g.), oval fruits pointy ends, and very good, sweet flavor with pleasant, acidic notes. Excellent for whole fruit canning or for cooking. Good disease resistance. Midseason, about 75 days after transplant.
