About Pit Viper
‘Pit Viper’ was developed by Blane Horton of Jackson, Mississippi, USA from the ‘Rumpelstiltskin’ project a line of H-28 and ‘Dwarf Wild Fred’ made by Keith Mueller. This line gave also ‘Red Viper’, ‘Copperhead’ and ‘Aftershock’ tomatoes.
‘Pit Viper’ is a regular leaf*, dwarf-type plant, that produces medium (3-4 oz./80-120g), beautifully colored, striped beefsteaks with smooth shoulders, and yellow, red, and green stripes outside. Green when ripe flesh has pink marbling inside. Excellent, rich tomato taste, very juicy, sweet, and fruity. Good yield. Plants grow well in large pots. Midseason, about 75 days to maturity.
*Some plants can have potato leaf foliage.
