About Sosulka Rozovaya (Pink Icicle, Розовая Cосулька)
‘Sosulka Rozovaya’ is a stabilized accidental cross of Ukrainian origin. Seeds were sent to ‘Baker Creek Heirloom Seed’ by Valeriy Popenko of Kazakhstan, along with its sister varieties ‘Sosulka Oranzhevaya’ and ‘Sosulka Chernaya’.
Indeterminate, regular leaf plant produces elongated, bright pink, meaty fruits that are shaped like a dazzling pink icicle. The flavor is very sweet and rich, making the fruits (in the opinion of many tomato growers) one of the best-tasting pink paste-type tomatoes. Perfect for salsa and for preserving, but also a favorite for fresh eating. This variety is an outstanding producer, fruits keep well after harvest and ripe well off of the vine. Very good disease resistance. Midseason, about 75 days to maturity.
* There are also sister lines for this variety: white, yellow, orange, red, black, and green.
