About Perito Italian
Very old Italian heirloom variety that dates back to the early 1900s. Carolyn Male received the seed from Dave Tenney of Ohio, who obtained the seed from his co-worker’s father, Matt Perito. First offered in the Seed Savers 2007 Yearbook by Carolyn Male of Salem, New York. Introduced commercially by Tatiana’s TOMATObase Seeds in 2014. Indeterminate, very tall, wispy regular leaf plants produce 6-12 oz., fat, red, plum-shaped fruits that are meaty and juicy, with narrow seed locules and very few seeds. Which makes it difficult to collect lots of seeds. Excellent sweet flavor. Outstanding plum-shaped, slicer tomato.
