About Oregon Star
Another tomato variety that came out of Dr. James R. Baggett’s program at Oregon State University. A sister to ‘Oregon Pride.’ It was stabilized from a cross between ‘Santiam’ and ‘Roma’ and was released in 1993. Determinate, regular leaf plant produces an early maturing, red, paste-type tomato, with firm fruit that are easy to pick and to peel. The fruits are large, irregularly shaped, and tend to be seedless (parthenocarpic). The later smaller fruit is where the seed harvest comes from. They keep well both on and off plant. Great for slicing and eating fresh or in sauces.
