About Marcia’s Mystery Black

‘Marcia’s Mystery Black’ was named and first introduced commercially by Remy of ‘The Sample Seed Shop’ in 2014. Seeds of this tomato were brought to the ‘Buffalo Niagara Tomato Tastefest’ by Remy’s friend, Marcia, as a ‘Black Sea Man’ tomato. This is an off-type or a stray seed of ‘Black Sea Man’.
Indeterminate, regular leaf plants produce large (7-14oz./200-400g) pinkish-brown, thin-skinned beefsteaks with dark green shoulders. Dark pinkish-purple flesh and green gel, firm texture, and fruity aroma make the fruits beautiful colored inside. Rich, sweet flavors with slightly smoky and salty notes. Excellent for fresh eating, salads, or as a slicer. Midseason, about 80 days to maturity.
