About Louisiana Dixie
‘Louisiana Dixie’ was bred by ‘Louisiana State University’, Baton Rouge, USA, and originally released by the ‘Reuter Seed Company’ in 1936. It was developed from a cross made between ‘Louisiana Pink’ and ‘Walter Richard’. Donated to USDA in 1959 by ‘Petoseed Company’, California, USA.
Indeterminate, regular leaf plants produce an extremally heavy yield of medium-sized (7oz./200g), pink, oblate, and slightly flattened fruits with good, old-fashioned tomato aroma and meaty flesh. Well-balanced rich flavors. Great for fresh eating on sandwiches and in salads. Midseason, about 80 days to maturity.
