About Larisa
A variety from Russia. It was sent to Ted Maiden of LaFollette, Tennessee by Marina Kirishcheva, Bryansk region, Russia in December 2012.
Larisa is the name of a Russian woman, Larisa Ivanova from Nizhniy Novgorog, who had been growing this tomato for many years. Larisa did not have a name for it, and simply referred to it as ‘svoi’, which means ‘my own’. Hence, Marina labelled it ‘Larisa’ when she shared seeds with some North American gardeners in December 2012. Seeds sent to Tatiana in December 2012.Introduced commercially by Tatiana’s TOMATObase Seeds in 2014.
Compact indeterminate, wispy regular leaf plant produces early fruit set of 8-18 oz., large, heart-shaped, and slightly ribbed tomatoes. Meaty but juicy flesh with small seed chambers and very few seeds. Very good balanced flavor that gets even better at the peak of the season.
