About Landshuter Riese
‘Landshuter Riese’ is an old German tomato variety, named after Landshut* – a town in Bavaria in the southeast of Germany.
Very vigorous, indeterminate, regular leaf plants produce a high yield of large (14-28oz./400-800g), red, heart-shaped fruits with thin skin and very well-balanced, old-fashioned tomato flavors and complex aroma. Mid to late season, about 78-85 days to maturity.
* Landshut is situated on the banks of the River Isar and is the capital of Lower Bavaria, one of the seven administrative regions of the Free State of Bavaria, Germany.
