‘Rotkaeppchen’ is a commercial variety from Germany, listed in European Plant Variety Database by ‘N.L.Chrestensen Erfuter Samen – Und Pflanzucht GMBH’ seed company. ‘Rotkaeppchen’ means ‘Red Hat’ in English. This variety is sometimes confused with the Russian tomato named ‘Krasnaya Shapochka’*, which also means ‘Red Hat’ in English.
Tomato ‘Rotkaeppchen’ is a determinate, bushy, dwarf-type plant with regular, and rugose leaf foliage, loaded with saladette size fruits weighing about 0,5-3oz./15-80g. Beautiful, red-colored, oblate fruits have smooth shoulders and a good well-balanced tomato taste. Perfect for growing in pots plants have good disease resistance and start to produce very early, about 45-55 days after transplant.

* ‘Krasnaya Shapochka (Красная Шапочка) is a commercial, open-pollinated tomato variety, created by Maksimov Sergey Vasilevich, Klimenko Nikolay Nikolaevich, Sergeev Vladimir Valeryevich. It was introduced by the ‘Poisk’ seed company and included in Russian State Register in 2011. Bushy micro dwarf plants with regular, and rugose leaf foliage are loaded with small cherry-type fruits (0,5-0,7oz./15-20g), that are red-colored, round in shape, and with a sweet tomato taste. Perfect for growing in pots. Good disease resistance. Early, 60 days after transplant.
