About Krainiy Sever (Extreme North, Крайний Север)
‘Krainiy Sever’ is a Russian commercial variety, created by Kozak Vladimir Ivanovich. It was included in the Russian State Register in 2007. Introduced to North America by Andrey Baranovski of Minsk, Belarus in 2007. Introduced commercially in North America by Tatiana’s TOMATObase Seeds in 2015 with the original Russian name.
Compact determinate dwarf plants with regular rugose foliage. Plants are about 2′ tall. The most interesting thing about this variety is that when fruits start to ripen, they turn golden orange first, and then turn red over the next 2-3 days, so the plant looks even more beautiful. Fruits are small, and somewhat flattened, 1-3 oz. Outstanding sweet flavors.
