About Karkiano (Karkizano)

‘Karkiano’ is a traditional Basque variety from Gipuzkoa – the province of Spain and a historical territory of the autonomous community of the Basque Country, located at the easternmost extreme of the Cantabric Sea, in the Bay of Biscay. Fruits are large (14-21oz./400-600g or even more), red, beefsteaks, more or less ribbed on the shoulders. Well-balanced flavors of heirloom tomato make them perfect for fresh, in salads, and on sandwiches. Indeterminate, regular leaf plants. Midseason, about 80 days from transplant.
