About Joffre
French variety named after Joseph Jacques Césaire Joffre, who was a French general during World War I. First offered in the Seed Savers 2002 Yearbook by Neil Lockhart of Oblong, Illinois, who received the seeds from Luc Fichot of Belgium in 2001. Introduced commercially by Marianna’s Heirloom Seeds in 2012. Indeterminate, regular leaf plant produces 2-3 oz., purple/black, round fruit with very good flavors.
