About Izumrudnoe Yabloko (Изумрудное Яблоко, Emerald Apple)

Izumrudnoe Yabloko AKA Emerald Apple is a rare variety from Russia where it is used for fresh eating, cooking, and canning. First introduced in Seed Savers 2008 Yearbook by Bill Minkey of Darien, Wisconsin, and Neil Lockhart of Oblong, Illinois who obtained their seeds in 2006 from Norwood Meiners, Manderville, LA. Indeterminate, regular leaf plant produces good yields of 10-18 oz., green fruit that can have a pinkish blush to the flesh when fully ripe. Deliciously tart with a surprising sweetness. A wonderful tomato for eating fresh in salads or making a wonderful sauce.
