About Hege German Pink
A wonderful heirloom tomato is renowned for its spectacular flavor. Rare! Seeds via Kenneth Cook from NH, via Neil Lockhart, IL, Variety grown by Lacy Hege and sold at several farmers markets in Welcome, NC. Lacy Hege originally got the seeds from another elderly market grower, Ron Simmons, of Walnut Grove, NC. Hege died in 2008 at the age of 86. Vigorous, tall, indeterminate, regular leaf plants yield abundant crops of 1-2 lb., pink, meaty, beefsteak tomatoes loaded with the kind of real, “old fashioned” tomatoey flavors you are likely to brag about growing. This is an excellent all purpose tomato with good disease resistance and very little cracking.
