About Handy Lady

‘Handy Lady’ was developed by Dylana Kapuler*, the daughter of the well-known plant breeder, Dr. Alan Kapuler** of Peace Seeds in Corvallis, Oregon, USA.
Indeterminate, regular leaf plants produce very unusual, eye-catching, red roma-type fruit weighing 1.2-1.9oz./35-55g and measuring 0.4-0.8in./2cm long with long, thin, nippled ends. The sweet tomatoes have a crunchy bite with a powerful aroma. Excellent for grilling, sauces, soups, and pizza toppings, as well as pickling and drying. Midseason, 70-80 days after transplant.

* Dylana is dedicated to developing unique multiflora-type tomato varieties that produce huge clusters of fruit.
** Alan M. Kapuler, better known by his moniker “Mushroom,” was a plant breeder, contemporary artist, and scientist who earned a doctorate in the biological sciences and focused his research on the molecular biochemistry of nucleic acids. He lived in Corvallis, Oregon, USA, where he focused on breeding high-nutrition fruits and vegetables and conserving biodiversity.
