About Favorie de Bretagne

‘Favorie de Bretagne’ is a beautiful tomato developed by Tom Wagner of Everett, Washington, USA, from a cross of ‘Green Sleeves’ and ‘Texas Wild’ x ‘Green Zebra.’ In the early spring of 2009, seeds were sent to a woman named Lucine in Brittany, France. She grew a lot of Tom’s varieties, but these were her favorites that year. Tom paid a visit to Lucine in September of that year and named this variety ‘Favorie de Bretagne,’ which translates as ‘Favorite of Brittany.’
Determinate* bushy plant with regular wispy leaves produces elongated, green when ripe saladettes (1-2oz./20-60g) with dark green stripes. The tomatoes have firm flesh, a sweet and fruity flavor, and a nice, refreshing finish. They are ideal for eating fresh, incorporating into salads, drying, or whole-fruit canning. Excellent disease resistance and suitability for container growing. Midseason, 70 days to maturity.

*There is also an indeterminate version of this variety circulating among tomato collectors, but the original selection chosen and named by Tom Wagner should be a determinate tomato plant.

Hi Anne, this is a determinate tomato plant, it does not need pruning other than removing all suckers below the first flower cluster. This increases airflow, which may aid in the treatment of foliar diseases and speed up the crop.
