About Dwarf Tanager
‘Dwarf Tanager’ was developed by the members of the ‘Dwarf Tomato Project’ from a cross made by Sherry Long between selection from the Sunny Family and ‘Orange Pear’ and named ‘Fancy’ family.
‘Dwarf Tanager’ was selected and named by Susan Oliverson as a differently colored outcome found when working on ‘Dwarf Goldfinch’. Stabilization was the collaborative work of Dee Sackett, Craig LeHoullier, and Bill Minkey. This variety was first introduced commercially by ‘Victory Seeds’ in 2021.
Rugose, potato leaf indeterminate dwarf-type plants produce a high yield of medium to large (4-20oz./100-560g), orange, oblate fruits with meaty flesh and full of flavor. Perfect for fresh eating but also great for canning and sauces. Late, about 85 days to maturity.
