About Dwarf Red Heart
‘Dwarf Red Heart’ was found in 2006 by Mr. Bill Jeffers in his garden while growing mixed dwarf seeds sent to him from ‘Long Island Seed Project’ where Kent Ettlinger had grown out several colors of ‘Dwarf Champion’ types – green, yellow, red, and pink. Mr. Bill Jeffers sent seeds to Dan McMurray of Wyndell, BC, Canada, who selected and stabilized the most interesting type – larger elongate pointed heart tomato. He called them ‘Dwarf Red Heart’. Fruits are small to medium (3-5oz./80-150g), red, heart-shaped fruits with very good old-fashioned tomato flavors. Determinate, compact and bushy, plants with regular leaf foliage. Good producer. Midseason, 75-80 days to maturity.
