About Dwarf Kodiak King
‘Dwarf Kodiak King’ was developed by the members of the ‘Dwarf Tomato Project’ from a cross made by Patrina Nuske Small by crossing the old, historic variety ‘New Big Dwarf’ with ‘Grozny ’91’ and named ‘Grizzly’ family. It was selected from this family, and named by Amanda Fischer. Stabilization was the collaborative work of Patrina and Amanda, Craig LeHoullier, Michael Volk, Sherry Long, Damon Huck, Bill Minkey, Mike Dunton, and John Dunton. Introduced commercially by Victory Seed Company of Molalla, Oregon, USA, in 2022.
A dwarf-type plant with rugose, regular leaves producing scarlet red, variably shaped tomatoes weighing 6-20oz./170-570g. The flesh of the fruit is meaty and smooth, with a complex, old-fashioned flavor and a slightly sweet aftertaste. Midseason, 80 days after transplant.
