About Dinner Plate
‘Dinner Plate’ is a very beautiful, heart-shaped heirloom tomato, that was listed in the 1982 SSE Yearbook by Will Bonsall of Maine, USA.
Indeterminate, regular leaf plants are very good producers of slightly ribbed, red, large (11-32oz./300-900g) hearts*. Very meaty flesh with few seeds has a good, sweet, and mild tomato taste. Good disease resistance. Midseason, about 80 days to maturity.
* There has also been found a red beefsteak-type variation of this variety – named by Tatiana Kouchnareva ‘Dinner Plate Beefsteak’. The original and correct version is red heart-shaped tomato.
