About Delicious (Delicious, Burpee’s)

‘Delicious’ is an excellent extra-large slicer that held the Guinness World Record for heaviest tomato (7.75 pounds/3.52kg) for 28 years. It was introduced commercially in 1964 after years of selection from ‘Beefsteak’.
Indeterminate vines with regular leaf foliage produce an abundance of extra-large (16oz./450g and more), smooth fruits with solid meaty flesh, small seed cavities, and outstanding flavor. This tomato is a great choice to be thickly sliced for grilling, sandwiches, and serving platters. The fruits are crack resistant and will begin to ripen during the early part of the growing season, 77 days after transplant.
