About Datterini Rosso (Datterino Rosso)
‘Datterini Rosso’ is a red-fruited strain of ‘Datterini’ tomatoes, that are mainly found in Italy, where they are often used for canning. The name ‘Datterini’ means ‘little dates’ in Italian. They may also be named as ‘Datterino’, presumably the singular form of the name. Small (0.7 oz./20g), elongated, plum-shaped, red, sweet tomatoes with strong flavors. Fruits have a high acidity, which ripens into a flavorful sweetness with a higher sugar level than most other tomatoes. Very good after-shelf life, fruits can be stored even for few weeks after harvest without losing their quality. Indeterminate, regular leaf plants. Midseason, the first ripe fruits can be harvested about 75 days after transplant.
