‘Daifuku’ was developed from a cross made in 2013 between a disease-resistant red salad hybrid ‘BHN 669 F1’ and ‘Black from Tula’. It is an original creation by ‘Bunny Hop Seeds’. Semi-determinate, regular leaf plants with a very good yield of dark purple, medium salad tomatoes. This is what ‘Bunny Hope Seeds’ writes about the name and taste of this variety:
‘The name “Daifuku” is given to a Japanese confection often filled with a richly sweet, dark filling. When I tasted this segregate, I was reminded of my favorite treat. Daifuku has a small core, with little to no waste. The flesh is plump and smooth, with luscious gel.
This cross came about when I tried to find a tomato variety of any color but red, that could be grown in the ground in my challenging climate and under a large insect/disease load.’
Good tomato for hot and humid conditions with disease resistance. Sweet and rich tomato taste. Midseason, about 75 days to maturity.
