About Comstock Sauce and Slice
‘Comstock Sauce and Slice’ tomato is an Italian origin, that was first introduced by Comstock, Ferre, and Co. in the 1980s. Seeds of this variety were a gift from their customer who reportedly brought them from his native Italy. Preserved and beloved by local gardeners in and around Comstock’s hometown of Wethersfield, Connecticut. Indeterminate, regular leaf and very prolific plants produce an outstanding yield of meaty, deep-red, big, elongated fruits that weigh up to 1 pound and have very few seeds. A dual-purpose variety, that is excellent for canning, pastes, and sauces, but also and great for fresh. Midseason – first ripe fruit can be harvested about 80-85 days after transplant.
