About Chio-Chio-San (Чио-Чио-Сан, Cio-Cio-San)
‘Chio-Chio-San’ is a Russian commercial variety developed by Gavrish S.F., Amcheslavskaya E.V., Volok O.A., Morev V.V. – a group of breeders working for one of the biggest Russian seed company ‘Gavrish’. Variety registered under registry code 9806032
and released in 1999. First offered in the Seed Savers 2000 Yearbook by Åke Truedsson of Klagshamn, Sweden. Indeterminate, regular leaf plant, that produces a huge yield of pink, plum-shaped fruit on very large, multiflora type trusses (about 50-60 fruit in each truss). Excellent, sweet flavor, crunchy and juicy, perfect for fresh or for canning. Midseason, the first ripe fruit can be harvested about 75-80 days from transplant.
