About Borgo Celano (Borgo Cellano)
‘Borgo Celano’ is a very old Italian heirloom tomato that was grown for over 500 years in the village of Borgo Celano, a province of Foggia, Italy. Very prolific, indeterminate, but compact (about 150cm tall) plants with regular leaf foliage. Beautiful, small (about 2 oz./50-80g), pear-shaped fruit with pointy ends. Deep red-colored, cherry fruits have good tomato flavor and very meaty, dense flesh that makes them perfect for canning cooking, and also for drying. Ripe fruits can be stored even for a few months after picking. Midseason, about 80 days to maturity.
