In my opinion, the information should include the breeder or person responsible for finding or creating each tomato. Otherwise the information is incomplete, especially for an internet site inspiring to be a world tomato society. I understand that sometimes this is not possible, but with new creations it should be.
Hello, breeder identification is always our overriding goal when researching the history of each of the varieties we describe. However, you are absolutely right that it is not always possible to find all the information about each of the several thousand varieties. Unfortunately, despite all efforts and research, some of the data will never be found. Many varieties, including new ones, are segregants from other varieties found by amateur gardeners. Their names are not always made public. However, we believe that if a variety is marketed to the public by a seed shop, it is worth including it in our catalog as there are people who are looking for information about it or want to see a photo.
