About Black Krim

‘Black Krim’ tomato is a Ukrainian heirloom from Crimea region of Black Sea, Crimean Peninsula (Ukraine). First offered in the SSE 1990 Yearbook by Lars Olov Rosenstrom of Bromma, Sweden. This rare, and outstanding tomato yields 3-4″ slightly flattened dark-red (mahogany-colored) slightly maroon, beefsteak tomatoes with deep green shoulders. Green gel around seeds. Fantastic, intense, slightly salty taste. Perfect choice for slicing, salads, and cooking. Also suitable for container/patio garden. Indeterminate, regular leaf plants with good yield. Midseason, about 75 days to maturity.

In our 2020 garden of the 6 different tomato varieties, this was my favorite, best BLT ever ….close second was the pink brandywine….

Also my top favourite tomato out of the 15 varieties I have in 2 plastic "glass"-houses. This plant is amongst the fastest growing varieties, so I put it on the northern side next to Gigantesque and Lämpchen (Ivory Egg). Was rare a couple of years ago, but now very common in Belgium, available both as seed, or plant in garden centres. Next to its fantastic taste, the slices present very nicely in a mixed tomato salad.
