‘Biyskaya Roza’ is a Russian non-commercial variety, that comes from the tomato seed collection of Tamara Yashenko of Biysk*, Siberia, Russia. First offered in the Seed Savers 2009 Yearbook by Tatiana Kouchnareva of Anmore, Canada. Indeterminate, regular leaf plants, that produce large (10-18 oz.) pink beefsteak-type fruit with smooth shoulders. Very meaty, dense, and firm flesh, perfect for fresh eating and for cooking. Delicious, sweet, and rich tomato flavor. Midseason, about 75 days to maturity.
* Biysk is a Russian city that is widely considered to be ‘the gates to the Altai Mountains’.
