‘Big Sungold Select’ was derived from the always popular ‘Sungold’ by Reinhard Kraft, in the 2000s. He grew this tomato from Manfred Hamm who shared seeds and found one with bigger fruits. First offered in the Seed Savers 2007 Yearbook by Michel Gunn of Pasadena, who obtained the seed from Reinhard Kraft, Neukirchen, Germany. This open-pollinated type produces much larger fruits, weighing up to 1.05oz. (30g). The fruits have much of the Sungold sweetness and are born in nice clusters on moderate-sized, indeterminate, regular leaf plants.
