About Bellstar
‘Bellstar’ is a wonderful, blemish-free plum paste tomato with a triangular shape, like a persimmon. Determinate, regular leaf, dwarf type plants bear a concentrated harvest early, and fruits ripen even in hotter, drier weather. Perfect for short seasons and small spaces. It was bred at Smithfield Experiment Farm in Ontario by Dr. Jack Metcalf and introduced in 1981. Large for a plum tomato (2.5-3″ diameter), 8 oz fruit, for tomato sauces, flavor probably too mild to pass as a fresh-eater. Tomato for the Northern regions with good disease resistance.
