About Belgian Farmer’s Beefsteak
Belgian Farmer’s Beefsteak, Belgian Pounder, Belgian Heart, and Rita’s Black all came from no-name varieties collected from farmers in Rita De Clereq’s local area. They are ones that they grow for themselves, not for market. Val and Dan McMurray who actively exchanged seeds with European growers, asked Rita De Clereq to get hold of some of the local Belgium “heirlooms” or family varieties when they started trading with her. Indeterminate, regular leaf plant produces 10-16 oz., red, oblate tomatoes with a good flavor with slightly acidic finish. Thin skinned.
