About Arbuznyy (Арбузный, Arbuznyi)
‘Arbuznyy’ is a variety developed in the early 2000s by a group of three Russian breeders: S.F. Gavrish, E.V. Amcheslavskaya, and V.V. Morev working for one of the biggest Russian seed company ‘Gavrish’. It is an indeterminate, regular leaf plant, that produces medium-sized, beefsteak-type fruit, brown/mahogany colored outside with dark green shoulders and irregular, dark green stripes reminding of the Watermelon skin – hence the name of this variety. Dark flesh, with purple, pink, and mahogany marbling. Meaty, good balanced and juicy, flavorful with a smoky notes flesh. Midseason, about 80 days from transplant.
