About Ananas Noire (Black Pineapple)
‘Ananas Noir’ A.K.A. Black Pineapple tomato. The name of this Belgian tomato, introduced by Pascal Moreau in 2005, is French for black pineapple. Large, sprawling, regular leaf plant that yields heavy crop of 1 to 1 1/2 lb., round, dark-purple, fruit with green shoulders. Interior color is a tie-dye like mix of pink, red, green yellow colors. Loaded with an abundance of rich and delicious, full-bodied, sweet & smokey flavors with a whollop of acidity. Try this tomato in a salad with other colors. Also makes a delicious, rich tomato sauce.

This is absolutely my favorite salad tomato. It is also fine for sauces, unless you want a very red one.
After having grown over 1000 varieties of heirlooms when I first grew this gorgeous red/green tomato I was mesmerized by the colour. Then wow the flavour was captivating, first rich tomato flavor that caressed with a smokiness that only black tomato can possess. Ananas Noir! Zoomed to the top of my favourities List. The combination of flavour and beauty is unlike any other tomato!
