Dave Dumont, gardener, food critic, and gourmet chef. Born in Illinois, David has been involved with music since he picked up a violin at the age of three. He progressed to trombone as he grew and discovered the piano at the age of 11 and played the organ at his local church through junior and high school. After finishing high school in Barrington, RI, he continued his education at the Boston Conservatory of Music, majoring in Music Education and piano in 1976. He also has taken classes at Johnson Wales culinary arts school in Providence R.I.

Upon completing his studies at Boston Conservatory, David toured with several large bands that he formed, opening for many major acts at many of the finest clubs on the East Coast. In 1982 and 1983 he was asked to help open the first and second U.S. Festivals for Steve Wozniak of Apple Computers with over 300,000 attendings.

In 1994 he co-founded the non-profit, Steinway Society in the Bay Area and also founded the Puget Sound Steinway Society in 2002. In 1992, he re-joined Sherman Clay Co. representing Steinway & Sons Pianos in the San Francisco Bay Area until June of 2013.

Before briefly moving to the Northwest in 2001 he was inducted into the Bay Area Hall of Fame for Musicians and given an award by the Steinway Society for outstanding contribution to music and the community.

50 years ago his Dad introduced him to the joy of gardening by introducing him to planting tomatoes and beans. Ever since then, Dave has had a passion for growing his own produce from the garden. He is an advocate for organic gardening procedures and Effective Micro Bioorganisms treatments ( EM-1) He finds that the Tomato plant is the “perfect” plant to introduce families to the tremendous benefits of growing your own.
